You will need swimwear, 2 towels (one to sit on in the sauna and one for drying off) and drinking water.
We recommend bringing warm clothing to change into after if it’s a cold or windy day.
Beach footwear can prove useful if entering the tidal pool at our Margate location. It’s a sandy beach, which can become hot in summer, and pebbly in places.
Swimwear with metal fasteners can get hot in the sauna and is not recommended. This also applies to any type of metal jewellery, glasses, mobile phones.

Will I share the sauna?
Yes, if you book a social session. We believe its one of the joys of the new sauna social wave - chatting with and meeting new people.
Private hires of the sauna, gives you exclusive and unshared use of the sauna.
Margate beach - Our barrel sauna holds 6 people for shared social sessions and up to 8 people for private bookings.
Whitstable harbour - Our barrel sauna will live temporarily at Whitstable and holds 8 people for a social session and 10 for a private booking. We plan to replace the barrel sauna with a modern wood fired larger sauna with capacity for large groups of up to 15 people.
Is the sauna safe? Will I overheat, how will I know?
Sauna temperature varies across cultures and types of sauna. Our minimum temperature for a session is 70 degrees Celsius, usually only at the start of the first session of the day, our sauna attendants aim to keep the sauna running between the ideal temperatures of 80-100 degrees. If you’d like it hotter or cooler, then always feel like you can ask the sauna attendant, who can tend the fire accordingly.
If you feel that the sauna is too hot for you, exit the sauna and take a break, after a cool down you’ll probably find it easier on re-entering. Listen to you body and never try to compete with others to stay in longer than feels safe. Everyone has different tolerance levels. All our saunas are fitted with temperature gauges. If you see that the sauna heat is close to 100 degrees and you feel too hot, then open the door to allow ventilation or contact a member of staff to assist you.
Which sauna should I book?
Margate beach - Our traditional Nordic wood fired barrel sauna will provide an intense heat. The curvature of the barrel provides a rounded hot feeling. When water is poured on to the stones one feels the sizzle and the rush of hot air. The beauty of the barrel design and the stunning view out on to the sea has really captured local hearts in the short time we have been open.
Our new electric cube sauna from Estonia offers a truly distinctive experience when compared to our barrel sauna. With its modern heater and fan technology that efficiently distributes warm air when water is poured on it, this sauna delivers not only comfortable heat but also a wonderful view of the tranquil tidal pool.
Whitstable harbour - Our new stunning black bird wood fired sauna packs a powerful punch with a beautiful Iki professional wood fired stove warming up its 12-14 guests. All the way, hand crafted from Lithuania, the sauna is a bespoke design by owner, Luke, to create a sea view environment for community sauna enthusiasts. We hope you enjoy every second!

Are children allowed to sauna?
Children have used saunas with their families for hundreds if not thousands of years in countries with established sauna culture and use. Our insurance allows children over the age of 5 years old to use our saunas with adult supervision, and signing a waiver accepting the responsibility of safe supervision (completed on site at arrival).
All children under the age of 18 must have adult supervision.
Children between the ages of 5-12 years old can only use our saunas in a ‘private/exclusive hire’ session. This is because smaller bodies heat up more quickly and so smaller children need to exit the sauna to cool down more often, entering/exiting the sauna frequently (this can be too interruptive for social saunas).
For social sauna sessions children must be a minimum of 12 years old and accompanied by an adult.
Do you have body scrubs?
Yes, yes we do! We have our own organic salt scrubs made on site to order. We use Dead Sea Sea Salt, mixed with a choice of botanical: rose petals, lavender or peppermint. Try them all! One pot costs five pounds and is usually enough to share with someone!
We are working on a range of new scrubs that will be part of our sauna experiences.
Can I book treatments?
We are working on a summer treatment menu with our partners. What could be better than laying on Margate beach having a massage, then jumping in the sauna..Look out for further information coming in Spring 2024.
Can we bring food & drinks?
You are welcome to bring along soft drinks to rehydrate yourself during your visit. You can bring snacks too (salty is good for post-sauna mineral replacement) but we don’t allow food inside the saunas.
We have refrigerated soft drinks available to buy. We also have drinking water on site
Staying hydrated while sauna-ing is essential. We ask you to bring your own large bottles of water, which the sauna attendant is happy to refill for free on request
Is alcohol permitted on site?
Alcohol is not permitted inside the saunas. Generally, saunas, cold water plunges and alcohol don’t mix well and accidents can occur. However, you are welcome to consume alcohol sensibly when the sauna session has finished.
We reserve the right to deny entry to anyone who we deem to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol, without a refund.
What about severe weather conditions?
For our customers and staff safety we may close during adverse weather conditions at short notice. Events such as electrical storms and gale-force winds are considered adverse weather conditions.
During rain, sleet and snow, having a sauna feels even more special, so we will be open as usual.
