Some handy tips to get the most out of your sauna session

Our Tips!

How to manage the heat of the sauna

  • Relax and get into the sauna slowly. For your first session, do not add water to the stones. As your core temperature rises and you begin sweating, take a break to cool off (recommended after 10-15 minutes)

  • The ideal temperature of the sauna should be between 70-90 degrees C depending on your preference. If the temperature rises above 100 degrees then open the door to allow ventilation in to the sauna.

  • After a 5-minute break with a swim/cold plunge or just fresh air, return to the sauna and think about using steam to get hotter quicker. Listen to your body, and ask our sauna attendant if you have any questions.

Good preparation and a little knowledge goes a long way in sauna satisfaction and experience.

  • Bring 2 towels, 1 small, for sitting on in the sauna. 1 large for drying afterwards.

  • Bring a bag for wet things for after your sauna session.

  • Bring warm/windproof clothing for cold/windy days.

  • Bring plenty of water. Drink some water beforehand and do not eat a heavy meal 90 mins before you enter the sauna. On the flip side, don’t come to sauna on an empty stomach as this can result in nausea or feeling light-headed.

  • The goal is to relax, there’s no rush, take it easy. This is your time, so allow plenty of time to arrive to unwind mentally.

  • Remove all jewellery before entering the sauna. Our saunas can reach high temperatures. Items such as earrings, bracelets, necklaces, rings, watches and glasses can get so hot they can burn your skin.
